Dr. Kristina BurlingDr. Kristina Burling is a California native. She grew up as an animal crazy kid in Los Angeles and completed her DVM education at UC Davis in 1987. Kristina started her specialty training with an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Canada. She then returned to UC Davis for her specialty training in Ophthalmology. Board Certified in 1992 she started the first ophthalmology specialty practice, in the South Bay area in 1994 initially in San Jose and later moving to Campbell. When not doing her best to promote vision and comfort for her patients, Kristina spends time hiking, reading, yoga, enjoying movies and theater, and of course, playing with her dog Lulu! Board Certified Veterinary OphthalmologistDr. Victoria LyonsBoard Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist/Owner Dr. Lyons is a California native who started her journey to veterinary medicine by graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Animal Science. She then ventured south and obtained her DVM from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. After a year long rotating small animal internship at VCA Encina in Walnut Creek, she completed a year long specialty internship in Ophthalmology with Dr. Burling at Animal Eye Specialists. Her adventure then took her to the Midwest where she completed a 3 year residency in Comparative Ophthalmology at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
When Dr. Lyons is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Vesper. She also busies herself attempting to keep her houseplants alive and hiking in the beautiful Bay Area.Dr. Savanna VigBoard Certified Veterinary OphthalmologistDr. Savanna Vig grew up in sunny Tucson, Arizona and did her undergraduate studies at University of Arizona before moving to California to attend veterinary school at UC Davis. She was often seen biking around campus with her dog peeking out from her backpack. She became drawn to ophthalmology after doing field exams with an equine ophthalmologist for a summer research project on the genetics of Squamous Cell Carcinoma. During her rotating small animal internship at Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic, she took elective rotations in ophthalmology which fortunately led her to Animal Eye Specialists. Dr. Vig has completed a residency program in the field of Ophthalmology under the mentorship of Dr. Kristina Burling.. When she is not reading ophthalmology articles, she enjoys spending time hiking with her dog, a small mixed breed named Dewey. ChrisChris joined the Animal Eye Specialists team in 2010 as a veterinary assistant. In 2014, she became the team’s Practice Manager where she ensures the background operations are running smoothly so that the rest of the team can provide the very best in patient care. When she is not working, you can usually find her out running, biking, or hanging out with her husband, daughter, and their three dogs - Meeka, Johnny and Coda and cat- Rosie. Practice ManagerBenitaBenita has been a Registered Veterinary Technician at Animal Eye Specialists since 2014. When not in the clinic, Benita is a mom to her two fur babies, Snickers, a senior Daschund and Aldo, a fun loving 3 legged cat. At a very early age, she knew she wanted to work with animals. She has been a Registered Veterinary Technician for over 25 years. She joined the Animal Eye Specialists Team in 2015. When she is not working to earn money for kibble and frisbees, she is playing tug of war and practicing agility with Nikki. She grew up in the Bay Area and in her free time she enjoys the activities it has to offer, such as hiking and going to the beach. She also enjoys traveling with her husband and their rescued dog, Orion. They also have a rescued cat, Lyra, at home.Registered Veterinary TechnicianMarisaMarisa had worked at AES as a Veterinary Assistant for 10 years, then in 2018, moved to the Central Valley. She has been able to continue to work for AES remotely, as a CSR, and has been so grateful to continue to be part of such an amazing team. She has gained experience throughout the years in ophthalmology, general practice medicine, internal medicine and exotics. She is fear free certified and is passionate about low stress methods for our patients. She has enjoyed spending time throughout the years with her various rescued cats, dog and rabbits and appreciates nature, wildlife, plants and insects. She also enjoys helping with her cousin's pet photography business here in the Bay Area.Registered Veterinary TechnicianSorayaSoraya grew up in the Bay Area and has always had a deep love for animals. During her college years, she worked as a Customer Service Representative at a local veterinary office. After over 20 years in tech and education, she has returned to her passion for supporting animals and their families. She received her undergraduate degree in Earth Sciences from Dartmouth College, and shortly after she fell in love with veterinary medicine and obtained her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania. Following veterinary school, she completed a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital and a comparative ophthalmology internship at UC Davis. She then obtained a master’s degree and completed her ophthalmology residency training at the University of Florida.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Bustamante loves to spend her time outdoors, primarily on two wheels (mountain biking or road cycling) or hiking. She also enjoys reading, exploring new restaurants and craft beer tasting with her friends and family.
